center located on the shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala in Central
America. Relax and discover Lake Atitlan's living and legendary Mayan
landscape. We speak English and Spanish.
Relax and enjoy...
In today's
nothing-new-under-the-sun-kind-of-world, atmosphere is a rare commodity. Travel to Villa
Sumaya in the heart of Guatemala's highlands and discover Lake Atitlan's living and
legendary landscape. Come watch your workday blues vanish into thin air. Experience how a change in altitude, if not latitude, can induce a rewarding change in
attitude.
Villa Sumaya hotel, restaurant and retreat centre is seductively situated on the
picturesque shores of Lake Atitlan (at 1,500 ms/4,500 ft ASL). With an
uninterrupted vista punctuated only by a skyline of three perfect volcanoes, Villa Sumaya
is the ultimate high for romantics and adventurers in search of
rest, reflection and ageless natural beauty.
This unpretentious, thatch roofed complex, with eight comfortable
rooms, spacious gardens, restaurant/bar, entertainment center, hot
tub, sauna, and outdoor pergolas are all hidden in the natural
surroundings of this beautiful setting.
Our
New Yoga / Retreat Group Facility
Our newest addition completed in the Fall of 2003 is
a world class group facility we call, "Blue Tiger Temple."
While matching the hotel dcor with thatched roof and simple lines,
it has a unique Japanese motif. Boasting a lake front location, full
panoramic view, hard wood floor, and glass pyramid sky light, this
1000 square foot space is ideal for group activities such as yoga,
dance, active and sitting meditation, massage therapy, Thai yoga
massage, aromatherapy, tai chi, reiki, shamanistic ceremonies,
impromptu drama, kirtan-chanting, vocalization, think tanks and
family reunions. If you're a teacher, instructor, shaman,
mentor or guru looking for an inspiring facility to rent, consider
bringing your students to Villa Sumaya for a breathtaking getaway
they'll never forget.

Dining on the lake...
Cafe Sumaya, the villa's jewel of a restaurant, with
a stunning view of the lake, offers a
culinary-conscious menu for slow food aficionados and
eco-epicureans, catering to vegetarians
and non-vegetarians alike. A sound yet eclectic blend of local
and international cuisine, created from Guatemala's cornucopia of
fruit and vegetables and fresh fish, meat and poultry, is available
three times a day. Baked goods are produced daily.
The scent of fresh bread and
tortillas is utterly intoxicating!
