Healing through the Chakras Join us on a mystical journey of 8 Days/7 Nights, healing each of the chakras and exploring the World of the Mayans. The journey starts in Antigua. Founded in the early 16th Century and nestled between three volcanoes, Antigua served as Guatemala’s capital city for more than 200 years until 1773. This peaceful and restored colonial city is a pleasure to explore, offering an array of cultural activities, museums, cathedrals, convents and monasteries. After a night in Antigua we will head towards Lake Atitlan. This majestic lake is one of the most beautiful places of Guatemala, surrounded by 12 colorful Mayan villages and blue mountains! We will stay 3 nights in this perfect paradise at Villa Sumaya to relax, enjoy nature and rejuvenate ourselves. In the area you will be able to hike to the surrounding villages, bird watch, climb the volcanoes and take an amazing day trip to the famous Chichicastenango Market, famous for its colorful local textiles and handcrafts. Following our Lake Atitlan adventure we will head towards the northern region of Peten to visit the amazing city of Flores and the ancient Mayan City of Tikal. Tikal possesses a certain magic and it fascinates everyone! It is so irresistibly amazing that once you are here, you’ll find yourself wanting to stay just a little longer! Being the largest excavation site in the American continent, it comprises 222 square miles of jungle all around the ceremonial center. Here we will have the opportunity to visit these astonishing ruins, learn about this incredible sacred site and do a spiritual meditation as we observe the rising sun from one of the famous Mayan temples. The ancient Mayan city contains some of the most amazing archaeological remains of the ancient Maya civilization. Finishing our journey we will arrive back in the city of Antigua to finish any shopping and conclude an amazing cultural journey!

This module provides more than a general overview of yoga concepts, theory, and sequencing. Here a strong focus on base asana and pranayama techniques are practiced extensively and move in-depth along side of yoga concepts and theories. Essentially we practice a way to develop that burn for living, teaching and creating. All modules will include exploration of the physical and subtle but here we learn to cultivate and develop the fire within.

This module is most ideal for practitioners who would love to learn in a teacher training capacity but may not be able to put in time to a 200 or 500 hour program. The focus is expansion through practice – more than just theory – and will allow you to independently link common as well as advanced yogic thoughts such as karma, dharma, etc.
For advanced teachers, this will serve as a great tool to refresh your practices and art of teaching with a
variety of viewpoints (as opposed to only one way, in which we are commonly fed.) This program creates space for a way! A space for you to create your way.
As a teacher (and practitioner) it is easy to feel exhausted or a lack of creative spark. We read a bit, study some or follow a view that we have been taught or have decided upon. We are told to disregard what we do not know to be safe (usually involving injury, psychological struggles, and emotional queries). Commonly, we begin to rely on the technique rather than the energy in the technique. Here we ask one to view, open up to the fire, becoming the operator of our own technique.

Each year Villa Sumaya hosts the dynamic and soulful teacher, Sensei Doug Duncan. This is your opportunity to learn from a live master in a meditative and inspiring environment. This retreat is discounted in order to afford more people the chance to study, practice and awaken.

Before becoming fully awakened, humans dance with these three powerful forces through the duality of ego. In its positive manifestation, sensing leads to absorption in clear and radiant states; in its negative form, sensing can be an endless indulgence of appetites, leading nowhere except possible dissoluteness. Intuition can be mere wishful thinking and justification for our personal prejudices, or it can be a powerful vision, a shining star lighting our path as we become more awake beings. Karma is the jury and the law, with our choices and decisions bearing results as our karmic fruit. Often we don’t perceive how the choices we’ve made determine where we are today and what happens to us daily.
>>
>> Bliss is the fruit of wholesome sensing, while insight is the treasure granted through wholesome intuition. Skillful meditation can empower us to study the causes and results of our karma, awarding us the opportunity to create a freedom leading us out of mere indulgence or habit. Why should we care? This is the path to a joyful view of impermanence, allowing us to truly enjoy the clarity and wisdom of the eternal now, benefitting not just ourselves, but all beings.
>>
>> This course will include an empowerment for Medicine Buddha, the Buddha of Healing.

Achariya Doug Duncan studied with his teacher Namgyal Rinpoche for 30 years, has started centers for the eclectic Namgyal lineage in Japan and Canada, and teaches dharma and meditation worldwide. Doug’s teaching and the Namgyal lineage are remarkable for their combination of traditional forms of Buddhism with Western mystical traditions, as well as with contemporary discoveries in psychology, art and science. Doug Sensei (the title for “teacher” in Japan) is known for his humor, penetrating insights, therapy skills, and eye-opening application of ancient traditions to contemporary life. Please see www.clearskycenter.org and www.dharma-japan.org for more details.
